Gladriel.com is a gaming auction website who also currently is running an insane promotion which is offering a free game for promoting their website. The specifics are easy, and all you would have to do is write up a 3,500 character article discussing their website, and you would be eligible to get the free game of your choice. To choose your game, you would have to find any video game through Amazon.com, and find the link to the product of the game you would like. There are restrictions to the gaming product however, and the value of the game must be under $50.00. Any newer games cost about $10 more, but if you’re looking for something like Call of Duty, or Modern Warfare 2, you should be eligible for this promotion. To get in on this deal, you would have to first register to Gladriel.com, then visit their current promotions page at: http://www.gladriel.com/promotion/. To post the 3500 word article, your website must of been registered for at least a year. You would also need to update your Facebook and Twitter account with your article, or video. Video? You may also be eligible for this promotion by making a video instead of writing a 3500 character article. As long as you create a video and the video achieves a minimum of 1000 views, you are eligible for the prize. You would still have to promote this on your Facebook and Twitter account. After you have either written the 3,500 character article, or achieved a video about Gladriel.com with at least 1,000 views, plus tweeting it and adding to your Facebook, you would have to find the product on Amazon, then complete a contact form with this information. You would then receive a free game courtesy of Gladriel.com shortly.

Now that you know about the crazy types of promotions that Gladriel.com offers, I’m sure you’d like to know what Gladriel.com is about. Gladriel.com is a combination of a gaming community, gaming blog, gaming marketplace, and gaming auctions. You can use the website to find the latest and up to date information about the newest games, previews, while watching trailers or downloading then playing game demos. There are reviews on certain games, walkthroughs which help you through games, and even cheats for games if you’re still stuck. They cover all platforms of gaming including PC/Windows gaming, Xbox, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Playstation Portable, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Lastgen, and even Retro games. Not only are much of it’s main content a blog, they also have a community forum where thousands of gamers can communicate with each other through the internet.

Registration to Gladriel.com is simple, and only has three fields to fill out. You would need to fill out your Email Address, Password, and Nickname/Username. There is no email validation necessary, but you may confirm your email by clicking a link anyways which would put your account in the ‘trusted’ status. There are many perks and prizes awarded to registered users, so the importance of creating the account at Gladriel is recommended!

Gladriel.com also offers a points system to incentivize their registered users, they call it the ‘Purse’. Gladriel uses a virtual currency system using units of ‘gold’, which can be put in your ‘Purse’. You may get ‘gold’ by buying the credits through popular payment processors such as PayPal. The ratio of dollars to ‘Gold’ is 1 to 100, which is equivilent to 1 cent per piece of virtual gold. You can exchange these ‘Gold’ for abilities in opening auctions for video games, and even to advertise on their main page!

You can even contribute more and obtain these virtual currency called ‘diamonds’, which rewards you for your contributions on the website. You can redeem these diamonds for tickets for raffles and winning valuable prizes, or even purchase items using diamonds. To get ‘diamonds’, you can either sell a game, refer users, write a post, upload an image, upload a video, write a cheat, write a news article, write a review, write a preview, or write a walkthrough.

Well, I’ve been hosting my websites on the internet for over 5 years, I’ve even ran a web hosting business myself for 2 years. Me being the frugal internet shopper I am, I switch hosts from time to time, looking for the best deals. Of course, when looking for deals for a web host, you must be careful. There is always the factor of reliability, uptime, speed, support, and pricing. However, when searching for reviews on JustHost, I was unable to find negative reviews. That’s the thing about web hosting reviews, if the webhost offers an affiliate program, the only results you see on google will be biased results, promoting JustHost due to personal gain. JustHost offers over $65 per signup to it’s affiliates, for referring people to it’s hosting, that’s why the top results are full of positives about JustHost. Well, everybody’s going to make money somehow, so I’ll put their affiliate link on my post too. At least this review isn’t going to be PRO-JustHost, all my posts are unbiased!

Been a customer for less than 24 hours and have none of my 4 support requests fulfilled in a timely manner. What’s the point of having different support departments, such as billing, and technical when the departments take hours to answer a ticket, with hours switching issues from department to department. They are also not there to help you, most of their services which are free for them, are charged to you as upgrades, such as priority support and SSH access.

JustHost’s Affiliate program with CJ also didn’t credit me for my signup, I was hoping to be a loyal customer but their support and service is way too slow. Especially their live support.

Website Features: 3 of 5 stars
Reliability / Uptime: N/A
Hosting Software: 4 of 5 stars
Live Support: 1 of 5 stars
24/7: Support: 1 of 5 stars

Well when I first ordered the hosting, I was prompted with a 50% off code, bringing my total down to $2.95 a month. I received the 50% discount code because I was annoyingly prompted to stay, when I tried to exit the site. The order page however, made it seem like $2.95 was the regular price for hosting. There were dead order links on their site, and I had to edit the URL to remove the junk to make it accessible. The front page of JustHost.com says hosting is $3.95, so I didn’t think $2.95 was the price at 50% off. Before I purchased the plan, I contacted JustHost using their live support, and inquired about this. The support representative asked me for some time so she could look into it for me, and ten minutes later she referred me to email billing@justhost.com. I just went along to order the hosting, and left a note on the PayPal payment to refund me 50%. This is what i put on PayPal comment:

I have used a JustHost Coupon: 50-OFF for 50 percent off, however, it does
not seem as if it’s taken off the discount. Please pro-rate a 50% off refund
to this PayPal account before provisioning the hosting account. If you are
unable to offer the 50% refund, please skip the account activation and offer
a full refund.

After I’ve sent the payment, I’ve noticed that their systems set up the account instantly, so I’ve had my account set up and ready to go. This is not a problem, but the PayPal note has totally been disregarded. So I’ve opened up a customer support to support@justhost.com, and billing@justhost.com.

Received on Nov/17/2009 9:53:52PM

Hi, I’ve left a note on the PayPal payment hoping a staff would look through
it, but was unaware accounts were instantly set-up. Here is the issue I
have, and I would like the 50% discount I’ve signed up with refunded to my
PayPal. Thanks for understanding.

Regards,
Curt W.

After that ticket, I’ve received a response pretty quickly! Two responses in just under 10 minutes, I received a response from support@justhost.com stating that my ticket to support is closed.

Sent on Nov/17/2009 10:02:19PM

Alright, so my ticket is now in the hands of billing, okay. I’m starting to get annoyed by the different departments of customer service. But since I needed to get my site up, I couldn’t keep waiting on a single issue, so I’ve replied with more questions:

Received on Nov/17/2009 10:07:03PM

Thanks for the quick reply.

Before I change the nameservers of my domain name, can you update the DNS
settings for me?

I’d need a CNAME record for irc.thebotnet.com to point to irc.botsites.net

Also, I might need you to restore a mysql backup for me or grant me SSH
access in the upcoming days.

Looking forward to hosting with you guys.

Regards,
Curtis W.

Two hours later, I get a response from a billing representative:

Sent on Nov/18/2009 12:10:03AM
Hi Curtis,

Thank you for your email.
Please can you advise me of your paypal email address so that I can look into this for you.

Kind regards,

Billing Representative
www.justhost.com

Now I’ve worked in webhosting to know that a billing representative could easily track down my payment if they wanted to, unless they were lazy. Their website advertises support requests answered in under an hour, while priorty support for $20/month is in under 30 minutes. Instead of a one hour wait, it took two, with my problem still being unresolved. I reply only two minutes later:

Received on Nov/18/2009 12:12:22AM

Hi Lee, my PayPal Address is: xx@itscurt.com

And I receive a simple reply an hour and thirty minutes later..

Sent on Nov/18/2009 1:33:39AM

Hi Curtis

Thank you for your email

$70.80 is the correct price for the 50% off plan. I am sorry for any mixups

Kind regards
Ben Moore
Billing Representative
www.justhost.com

Quite understanding, about the 50%, however, the response time it takes them is just way too long for these types of questions and answers.

After this response, I’ve decided to just forget about support, and to set-up my website and let them keep the money. After loading my site content, on their server, I would like to preview it before bringing it live. I did not update my nameservers, but wanted a temporary URL to preview my site. Knowing that the server is hosted through cPanel software, I’ve attempted to preview my site through this URL: http://cl68.justhost.com/~username/ . Unfortunately their cPanel software is configured differently, which I was unable to preview my URL. However, I contacted their live support representative through online chat! I’ve stated the problem, and the other representative asked me again to hold. Another 5 minutes later, the representative suggested that I just point my domain to their nameservers, thus blowing off the entire reason why I wanted a preview URL. The support representative was not too helpful, then advised me to contact support@justhost.com. I asked the support representative if he could open a ticket for me, then he said sure, and two minutes later he said he did. However, no other ticket was opened regarding that issue.. Now back to me working on my own!

Are we forgetting something? Oh yes, an unanswered question from the previous support ticket! I’ve sent them another reply:

Sent on Nov/18/2009 1:59:14AM

I guess you’re right, but I also need another issue fixed from the technical
support department, which was previously asked, but unanswered on this ticket..

It turns out my DB is over 100MB and would take a while to transfer, and may be
difficult to import without SSH capabilities. I would like to request temporary
SSH access and DNS adjustments on my accounts, as requested from my last
message.

I received a response 22 minutes later.. 22 minutes, is that quick to you? Maybe, but is it helpful? Maybe not.

Sent on Nov/18/2009 2:21:41AM

Hi, Curtis

Thank you for your email.

We have looked into your request and feel that you would be better assisted by
our technical support team. I have now transferred this ticket to them, they
will respond to you shortly.

Now I guess you understand why I am so arrogant and against the multiple support departments.. 50 minutes later..

Sent on Nov/18/2009 3:09:50AM

Hi Curtis,

We cannot set temporary access for your account.
Please upload your database dump to our server, provide us with the name of
database and we will import it.
And also provide us with DNS adjustments so we will set it for you.

Waiting for reply.
www.justhost.com

Now, it costs them nothing at all to enable SSH access for me, but they charge $20 a year for SSH access, and they refuse to give me 1 day of access to I can import my databases. I usually wouldn’t mind just letting them restore it for me, but since I am transfering a website where thousands of users access in a day, I cannot risk the downtime. The time it would take me shut down my current site to download and re-upload the database to the new server, and the unknowing response time of the customer support, plus the time it would take me to restore and re-configure the site for the new database would be too much downtime for my users to consume. Being frustrated, I remind them of my other task that I required, only 3 minutes later.

From then on, I just went to bed and hoped the next day would be better. About 30 minutes later I get a response:

I guess that’s true, but to this point, none of my support questions, and tasks have completed the way I planned it would. Maybe it is just me being snobby, but it’s for you to decide. The next morning I wake up and decide to cancel my hosting, as I’m going to find another host which would give me free SSH access for cheaper.

Funny thing is, they wish to pro-rate my refund, and I haven’t even been a customer for a day. So for the $70 I’ve spent on the two years; they get to keep $0.095. Whatever; I still think it’d be easier for them to just refund the payment in full. However, they’ve stated that the pro rata refund has been issued, and they’ve also stated it may take 7 working days to process. My refund has not been issued, but would probably be issued in the next 7 days. They should fix their wording on that statement. I’ve opened a dispute for a full refund via PayPal and cancelled my subscription with them. Their support desk is horrible, and their live support is useless. Their live support just refers you to their billing or support email, and doesn’t open tickets for you when prompted. This is the second time I’ve ranted about a webhost on my blog, and I’m not a picky person.

I’ve never really been the guy to use or rely on support, but I at least expect them to help me out somewhat when I need it. Now I can’t really give a review based on reliability and site performance as I’ve been a customer for under 24 hours, but I wouldn’t recommend them if you’re a customer that needs support for your sites.

Update: I just realized I’m not the only one with bad reviews; there are TONS of them for JustHost! Just read all the horror studies about them!

I don’t usually publicize my rants on small businesses because it really destroys their reputation. But this is the first time, where I am concerned for the potential customers that may order from them. This rant will focus on http://www.exushost.com . I switch webhosting from host to host, and have even ran successful webhosting businesses for years, and have never seen anything like this. Just from dealing with some live support operators with pre-sale questions have turned the operators against me, resorting to questioning me and promising lies. The easiest thing a web-host operator can do, is provide quality assistance in order to earn a sale. It wasn’t even technical or anything. Their actions has given me every reason to publicize a rant about them.

All I wanted was answers to simple questions, not even technical. They questioned me for why I gave them negative feedback and did not send me a transcript of my chat because I may not purchase their hosting. They first tried to convince me their servers and reliability are great and reliable, then they started to change their words and are holding answers from me. They promised a transcript emailed to me, which was never sent. I was put on hold on chat for 5 straight minutes, and when I asked about the delay, they told me they had other clients in line, and would get back to me in 10 minutes. The quality of the support given was unacceptable, it’s like living in an apartment where the landlord just wants you to leave.

Please do read on to hear the whole story.

Here’s what happened:

Well, I first saw a startup web hosting business, and this reminded me of the businesses when I first started.I was connected with an operator (Jesse), and asked if they offered reseller hosting.
I was prompted to hang on one moment, and then told that I will be transferred to another representative (Alex). (Great, I may be talking to the owner now!)
Now with the new representative, he asks me how he can help me. Shouldn’t he already know my question?
I asked him if the previous representative forwarded the issue, or question to him.
He responded Yes he did.
Fifteen seconds later, I reply, “ok..”
He then tells me that he can create a custom plan for me, and tells me it would be perfect to start a hosting company with their amazing uptime and speeds.
Great, nice to know, really.
I ask them how long they’ve been in business, and he ignores my question. He tells me they’ve once owned a previous site, and moved to this new one keeping all their old clients.
I ask for the name and age of this old site, and he tells me it was broadhost.net and was in business for roughly 4 months. The domain wasn’t even registered 3 months ago. Exushost wasn’t even registered for more than 2 weeks.
He tells me that they own their servers, and Colocate in Texas, but when I reverse the DNS of the IP address of the business, it’s hostname is hostnoc.net, and is located in Pennsylvania.
When I ask him about the sites, he then corrects himself and tells me he’s worked for another company before. Would you even consider Exushost a company?
I ask him if he is the owner of Exushost.
He tells me that he is the joint owner, and specializes in server management and account creation.
The display picture on the chat looked as if the operator was a minor under the age of 18, so I asked him for his age.
He tells me he does not need to answer that question.
I tell him that I wasn’t trying to be rude, then he tells me he’s in college.
I asked him who the owner was, and he tells me it was the first operator I was talking to.
So the first guy I was talking to, transferred me to the tech guy to negotiate prices on reseller services.
I question him about that, and he tells me that is because he does account creation and server management.
This is what has made me start my rant. I asked him if he can email me a transcript of our chat.
He then tells me that he can do that if I’m looking to purchase a package.
I tell him that I may come back, but I would like the transcript for reference.
He tells me that he will save the chat, and give it to me when I purchase the package.
This tells me that they want you to leave immediately if I’m not going to pay. I was a potential customer..
I ask him again to send me the chat.
After waiting, I noticed some features on the chat window, so I rate the operator 1 out of 5 stars, with the comment of being rude and impolite.
He then replies almost instantly, “Why did you give me a bad rating, when i was helping you and answering your questions.”.
I tell him that he is giving me lousy service, and should not even be criticizing me for the feedback I leave. I ask to be transferred to the owner.
I ask the owner if he can send me the transcript.
The owner says sure, and doesn’t ask for an email.
For another minute, I then ask if he would like my email.
I give him my email and tell him to tell me when my emails been dispatched.
He tells me he will, but after five minutes of no response, I ask him what’s going on.
He tells me that he is currently talking to other customers, and will help me in ten minutes.
That’s just perfect, I tell him to send the email anyways, and I’m going to leave.
He tells me he will send it ASAP.
An hour and a half later, with no transcript in my inbox, I wrote my rant.
I have printed a copy of the transcript, and have it available for the public.

It may not have been enough information to sham a host, but it’s enough to know from the support of these operators that their business is unprofessional and should not be relied on. Their website slogan is “When size really does matter.” Penis joke or not, it’s really support and reliability in a webhost that matters. You can find a webhost that offers un-metered packages anywhere, it’s support that’s hard to find. A website like this being ran by unprofessional kids should give consumers a second look at how web hosting businesses run these days.

They did not send me a transcript because they think I would rant about them, or because they believe I’m not going to purchase a plan. They probably thought I wouldn’t have logs or proof of their sham if they didn’t send me the transcript, but I printed one for the hell of it. Below is the raw log of the transcript. It cut off the part where he told me to wait 10 minutes to send my transcript. That’s what really ticked me off.

The nickname I used in the chat was Stephen, I replaced the instances with ‘Curt’.

Curt
Yes, of course we can.
